Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

Dravid is probably the most liable in the batting dept now.
even the debutant M.Vijay played better than him !!

He needs to quit next series imo. He can't do it this series since he didn't announce it. Everyone loves Dravid and his eye-catching technique, but he simply needs to retire.

It's kind of shocking to see all these Indian batsmen retiring one after another, though. I can't imagine how cricket will be without Sourav Ganguly, Dravid, or Laxman. And when Tendulkar's time eventually comes, I will just be out of words. I mean, I started watching cricket because of him. I'd see him defiantly stand up time and again against opposition while the rest of the squad would fall like bowling pins.

Sad yet exciting times, these are.

You'd like to think so. Amazing how Australia can drop the 3rd ranked best bowler in the world. Absolutely unbelievable! He was the most economical bowler in the run-fest last time also. He's a good bowler for putting pressure on, instead Australia want to adopt this Johnson, Lee approach where boundaries spray all over the place in the first 4 overs so defensive fields need to be used in the 4th over!!! Ponting had a third man in by the 4th over of the test match. That's disgraceful. That should never happen. There's noway the bowlers should be bowling that short and wide early on.

The over-rates have been shocking yet again also. Australia need a shake up

He's not dropped permanently, guaranteed. He hasn't been impressive this series and these pitches aren't suiting him so I, like the selectors see no point in keeping him in for the 4th test simply because he is the 3rd ranked best bowler.

Laxman isn't leaving anytime soon and shouldn't. He's a couple of years younger than the fab 5, IIRC, and he still looks like he has a couple of years in him. In fact, after Dravid departs, Laxman will probably actually step in to take his favorite number 3 spot, with Badri/Yuvi coming in at 5/6.

Of course he isn't. But he's the bowler who can bowl cutters and is the one who can bowl accurately. He's the core of the pace bowling attack. Plus he can bowl long spells. How can Ponting put pressure on from one end with Johnson or (sometimes) Lee spraying the ball around?

Australia don't seem to want to draw this series to me. I'm not seeing any fire or urgency. Ponting's captaincy has been appalling this series in most regards.

Well this accuracy and cutters haven't been helpful yet this series, so I dont see how it will on the slowest, flatest track of the series. The edges his cutters get probably wont even carry. Besides, Watson can bowl accurate, long spells.

Haddin has to be one of the worst gloveman going around at the moment also. I've heard of a few other Aussie glovemen, Ronchi, seems like he might be better.

Ronchi was pretty dodgy behind the stumps in the ODI matches. Bit too inconsistent with the bat as well. Paine is starting to develop into a decent one and his batting form is starting to pick up again.

But in defence of Haddin hes certainly not use to these slow low pitches. I wouldn't expect him to concede byes like that one again.

That's the way to play. Play him normally, occasionaly coming down to the track to Krejza. He'll bowl some boundary balls anyway.

NO! Dont listen to anyone that tells you Ronchi is better. He is a mindless slogger who averages 25 or something in fc. His keeping is ordinary too.

There is bounce in the pitch, its not keeping low, even the spinners getting bounce & turn on 1st day, that means it will be difficult for Aus when Harbhajan & Mishra will come to bowl them in 2nd & 4th inngs.

Well wickets have been gifted to kreja. Now its time to score runs against him as aussie will believe he will get more wickets.:p

Haddin's keeping is overrated, but it's been a tough series for keepers.

Haddin is better then Ronchi still.

Feelin Blue? added 6 Minutes and 35 Seconds later...

Not sure if its been mentioned but this game is Australia's 700th test and in all our landmark games (1,100,200,300,400,500,600) we have won so it will be interesting to see if we can continue that.

Anyone watching FOX sports coverage would have seen that stat anyway :p
